How to Get to Cozumel During IRONMAN Week
Most visitors arriving without a vehicle reach Cozumel by passenger ferry from Playa del Carmen. During a major race week, a little planning can make the arrival much easier, especially if you are traveling with a bicycle, race equipment or family.

Passenger ferry service between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel is currently offered by three main operators: Ultramar, Winjet and Xcaret Xailing.
Schedules, fares, promotions and ticket conditions can change, so instead of relying on an old price found online, check the operator’s official website or buy directly from the official ticket office.
Check the bicycle policy before you travel.
Ultramar currently states that bicycles are welcome without an additional charge. Policies can change, so athletes using another ferry company should confirm its current bicycle and equipment rules before departure.
A round-trip ticket is not always the most flexible choice.
If your priority is flexibility, compare one-way and open-ticket options before automatically buying a round trip. A one-way ticket can make it easier to review the available return schedules later and choose the option that best fits your plans.
Race week is not the time to arrive at the last minute.
Ferry operators recommend arriving ahead of departure. If you are carrying a bicycle, luggage or race equipment, allow extra time for ticketing, access to the terminal and boarding.
Cozumel also has vehicle ferry service.
Travelers bringing a car or other vehicle should use the vehicle ferry rather than the passenger terminal. Check availability and current operating information in advance, particularly during high-demand travel periods.
Do not choose a ferry only because someone approaches you before the terminal. Compare the current schedules and conditions from the official operators first. The best option may simply be the ferry that fits your arrival or return time that day.
